The unexpected snowfall that followed last week’s soaring temperatures of up to 30°C has surprised not only us but also our hazelnut producers. This unusual weather shift, deviating from seasonal norms, has raised serious concerns, particularly in regions with a high risk of frost. Sudden drops in temperature can negatively impact the budding and flowering processes in hazelnut orchards, potentially leading to significant effects on yield.
At this stage, making a definitive assessment is challenging, as the full impact of these weather conditions on production will become clearer in the coming days. To accurately evaluate potential damage to the yield, we need at least a week of close observation.
From a market perspective, we do not anticipate sharp price fluctuations in the short term. However, we are closely monitoring the progression of weather conditions and carefully assessing potential impacts. As the effects on yield become more apparent, we will also observe how the market reacts to these developments.
In the coming days, with the data we gather, we will continue to provide informed insights into both market trends and production outlooks, ensuring our stakeholders stay well-informed.
