A more livable and sustainable world is possible with the right agricultural practices, and many efforts are being made in this direction. Rainforest Alliance (RA) promotes sustainable farming through the standards and certification system it has created to raise awareness among both producers and agricultural workers. The RA certification aims to spread agricultural practices that comply with environmental, social, and economic sustainability principles, guiding farmers and companies along the way.

Karimex and RA Certification

As Karimex Hazelnut Industry, we are conducting various activities under the Rainforest Alliance certification to support sustainable agriculture and social benefits. Our Azof Organic Hazelnut subsidiary, located in Alaplı, Zonguldak and Yığılca, Düzce, along with approximately 1,000 contracted producers, continues to work to expand sustainable agriculture. Through this collaboration, we support our producers in transitioning to sustainable farming and ensure full transparency in our supply chain.

With our 100% traceable products, now certified as IP (Identity Preserved), we can clearly show our consumers the source of our products. This way, we continue our sustainability journey in a more transparent manner.

RA Certification and Traceability Categories

Rainforest Alliance offers three different traceability categories to ensure the traceability of products in the supply chain and to support sustainable farming: Mass Balance (MB), Identity Preserved (IP), and Segregation (SG).

Mass Balance (MB)

In this model, products from sustainable sources can be mixed with non-sustainable ones. The aim is to increase the use of sustainable resources across the supply chain. This model provides flexibility but does not give definite information about the specific source of the final product.

Identity Preserved (IP)

This category guarantees the traceability of products from farm to table and ensures that they remain unmixed throughout the supply chain. At Karimex Hazelnut Enterprises, we certify all our products as IP, allowing us to transparently show consumers which farm the products came from and the processes they went through. This commitment strengthens consumer confidence while reinforcing our dedication to sustainability.

Segregation (SG)

In this category, products obtained from sustainable farming are processed and transported without being mixed with those from other sources. The segregation model ensures that all products come from sustainable sources, though it does not specify a particular farm.

Karimex's Sustainability Vision

Karimex Hazelnut Industry aims to support producers in its sustainability efforts, make agricultural production more environmentally friendly, and maintain a transparent supply chain where every stage is traceable. While contributing to sustainable farming, we also offer consumers reliable and traceable products.
